Molly Bounds

Molly Bounds lives and works in Denver. Born in Texas and raised in Colorado, she attended Metropolitan State University of Denver and received her BFA in printmaking in 2014. She was an artist in residence at Redline Contemporary Art Center from 2016 to 2018.

Through portraiture, and a confident though economic use of line, Bounds’ scenes of domestic life often depict the complexity of her figures’ private thought processes. Influenced by narrative sequencing as exemplified by comics and graphic novels, Bounds captures quiet moments that suggest internal conflict, urgency, complacency, or fleeting opportunity. Her work often scrutinizes the social conditioning of self-doubt and its effect on the perception of one’s abilities.
